A fatal accident at an OSU homecoming parade has led to a 25-yo woman facing DUI charges, a Boulder DUI attorney explains. Here’s more on this case capturing national headlines.

According to initial police reports, the accident occurred around 10 am Saturday morning when the driver – a 25-year-old woman from Stillwater – reportedly hit an unmanned motorcycle before slamming into the crowd behind it who was watching the parade.

Investigators suspect that the driver was intoxicated. She had reportedly been celebrating the OSU homecoming the evening before with her boyfriend, who explained that she had been home by 10 pm Friday night.

Following the collision, a total of 27 people were immediately taken to nearby hospitals for emergency medical treatment. Ten of these people were considered to be “critically” injured at the time. Among the four accident victims who ultimately died as a result of their injuries was a two-year-old child.

An OSU statement issued in response to this accident stated the following:

Oklahoma State University is saddened by the tragic parade incident earlier this morning. Our thoughts & prayers are with those affected.
